Interview with the Band Rabid Hood

By Mick Michaels

The Cosmick View: Hello, and welcome to The Cosmick View/MBM Ten Pounder! Thanks for taking some time to chat with us!

CV: Describe your definition of the band’s sound and style and how does that definition uniquely describe the music?
Rabid Hood: Well Rabid Hood is a melodious Hard Rock band from Vestland/Norway. The band has extensive experience in the Metal and Rock n Roll stage with members from Helheim, ex-Taake, Trelldom, Nattverd, Aventyr and Spitfire++. This should be a good foundation to produce good quality music for new and old hard rock listeners to enjoy. Produced by Beau Hill music production…the hard-hitting drummer with a touch of metal, hard rock and rock at the same time, lead guitarist with heavenly solos, rhythm guitar and bass which creates a solid foundation for success and a vocalist who tops it all. I think this will be well received by both new and old hard rock listeners who appreciate good music.

CV: Today, everyone talks about artist and audience connection. Is such a level of connection actually achievable for an artist and if so, how have you made the connection to your fans?
Rabid Hood: I think social media is a place fans can connect with their idols and the same goes for us. When you hold a live concert there is contact with fans but I think social media is the best place.

CV: Is fan interaction an important part of the band’s inner culture?
Rabid Hood: Yes, that's what keeps us going…feedback from fans is very important both negative and positive…it is win or lose.

CV: Can a band truly interact with its fans and still maintain a level of personal privacy without crossing the line and giving up their “personal space” in your opinion?
Rabid Hood: It has a lot to do with how big one has become…if you are too big then you have to live in secret and always look over your shoulder but if you are on a reasonable level there is no problem. But it is not always something you can decide for yourself…that’s what happens when you become one of the greats.

CV: Is music, and its value, viewed differently around the world in your opinion?  If so, what do you see as the biggest difference in such multiple views among various cultures?
Rabid Hood: I think the music industry is pretty similar worldwide in terms of value and what one tries to get out of it, but of course a lot has to do with whatever genre you like and religion. So yes definitely.

CV: Do you feel that a band that has an international appeal, will tend to connect more so to American audiences? Would they be more enticed or intrigued to see the band over indigenous acts because of the foreign flavor?
Rabid Hood: Yes, I feel there are many artists and bands that believe the US is the most important market, and yes if you are European then you would feel special in the USA. But Europe and the rest of the world is probably just as important as the USA in my mind.

CV: Has modern-day digital technology made everyone an artist on some level in your opinion? Have the actual lines of what really is an artist been blurred?
Rabid Hood: Yes it is for sure…the threshold for calling yourself an artist today is low.

CV: How would you describe the difference between an artist who follows trends and one who sets them?
Rabid Hood: Well one who creates trends is a productive artist who knows what it takes and striving for something new…he who follows trends loves it as it is but that does not mean he is a bad artist on the contrary.

CV: Has music overall been splintered into too many sub-genres in an effort to appease fan tastes in your opinion? And has such fan appeasements, in actuality, weakened music’s impact as a whole by dividing audiences?
Rabid Hood: Yes I would say that but I don’t think it has weakened the music impact only if you want to keep the old…it is something that cannot be avoided, for we humans strive for development no matter what we do. And it is good in many ways for music.

CV: What can fans expect to see coming next from you?
Rabid Hood: We have big ambitions to get out there and play our music in front of a live audience as much as we can and we have a lot of music ready to be recorded for a whole album, so there is a lot of work ahead. We want to try to make Rabid Hood a hard hitting hard rock band that people notice and talk about, and I hope we will achieve that in this crazy music world we live in LoL…and that is our modest goal.

CV: Thanks again for taking some time and talking. It is greatly appreciated.

My name is Mick Michaels...I'm an artist, music fan, songwriter, producer, show host, dreamer and guitarist for the traditional Heavy Metal band Corners of Sanctuary. Writing has always been a creative outlet for me; what I couldn't say in speech, I was able to do with the written word.  Writing has given me a voice and a way for me to create on a multitude of platforms including music and song, articles, independent screenplays, books and now, artist interviews. The Cosmick View is an opportunity to raise the bar and showcase artists in a positive and inspirational light. For me, it's another out-of-this-world adventure.
