Interview with Guitarist and Frontman Daniel Morales of Aurora Dream

By Mick Michaels

COSMICK VIEW: Hello, Daniel! Welcome to The Cosmick View. Thank you for taking some time out of your day to chat with me, it is greatly appreciated.

CV: What do you feel sets you apart from other artists, especially those of similar sound and style? What specific allure does your sound and style have that has people taking notice?

Daniel Morales:  I think what sets me apart from other artists is my unique style of fusing different genres, writing techniques, and production methods to create a distinct sound. I love experimenting with different ideas and pushing the boundaries of guitar music. My sound is progressive, modern, and ethereal, which I believe captivates listeners and draws them in.

CV: For any artist, dynamics is key to grabbing an audience's attention. What do you feel is the main ingredient to having such a captivating dynamic and being able to bring something more to the music?
DM: I think the main ingredient to having a captivating dynamic is a combination of elements, including your musical identity, emotional depth, and melodic proficiency. But ultimately, it's about creating music that is genuine and authentic to oneself…which allows the listener to connect with the artist on a deeper level.

CV: How would you describe the ultimate musical experience for your fans? And how do you go about creating that musical vision, while generating the impact you want to have on your audience?
DM: For me, the ultimate musical experience for my fans is one that is immersive and transports them to another world. It's about creating an atmosphere that evokes emotions and allows the listener to lose themselves in the music. To achieve this, I focus on crafting songs that have strong melodies, interesting harmonies, and dynamic arrangements that take the listener on a journey.

CV: The music business has always been one that regardless of who you are, where you came from or where you've been, you can either sink or swim. Does this type of realism have any effect on how you drive yourself to succeed?
DM: Absolutely. The music industry can be brutal and unforgiving, and it takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and perseverance to succeed. But I believe that if you have a clear vision, a strong work ethic, and are willing to take risks, you can achieve your goals. I am constantly pushing myself to improve as an artist and as a business person, and I am always looking for new ways to connect with my audience and grow my brand.

CV: In your opinion, is there any middle ground for a band or is it a do or die climate in today's music industry?
DM: I believe that there is always a middle ground, and it's important to find the right balance between artistic expression and commercial viability. While it's important to stay true to your vision and create music that is authentic to yourself, it's also important to understand the needs and expectations of your audience and the industry as a whole. It's about finding a way to stay true to yourself while still being able to connect with your audience and achieve success.

CV: How would you describe your internal energy? Does your outward appearance align with your true inward nature from your perspective?
DM: I would describe my internal energy as focused and driven. I am always striving to improve my skills as a musician and entrepreneur, and I am constantly pushing myself to take on new challenges and opportunities. As for my outward appearance, I think it aligns with my true nature in that I try to present myself in a professional and confident manner while still remaining approachable and down to earth.

CV: What's at the core of your songwriting approach? Are there certain elements that are considered when a song begins to take form and evolves?

DM: At the core of my songwriting approach is the desire to create something that is both musically interesting and emotionally engaging. I try to incorporate elements of different genres and experiment with different writing techniques to keep the music fresh and dynamic. When I start working on a new song, I usually have a general idea of what I want to achieve, but I allow myself to be open to new ideas and directions that the music may take as it evolves.

CV: Do you allow things to just happen when writing; seeing where a song goes, or is there a certain course of action and structure you keep a song on, thus, essentially making it destined to achieve its overall potential?
DM: I like to have a general structure in mind when I'm writing a song, but I also leave room for improvisation and exploration. I find that the best ideas often come from allowing the music to take unexpected turns and following it wherever it leads. Ultimately, I want the music to have a sense of coherence and purpose, but I also want it to be organic and expressive.

CV: Do you feel how the fans and critics describe the band’s music accurately reflects how you would describe the band’s music?
DM: I think that fans and critics have their own unique perspectives and experiences that shape how they interpret and describe our music. While I may have my own ideas about what the music means and represents, I also recognize that the audience's perceptions are valid and valuable in their own right. At the end of the day, what matters most to me is that the music resonates with people in a meaningful way and inspires them to explore their own creativity and passions.

CV: Walk us through a typical show for you...what can fans who have never seen you perform expect?
DM: When I perform live, I aim to create an immersive and visually stunning experience that complements the music. I use a combination of live instruments, backing tracks, and visual effects to bring the music to life in a way that is both engaging and dynamic. Fans can expect to see a lot of energy and passion on stage, as well as some surprises and unexpected twists that make each show a unique and unforgettable experience. I try to connect with the audience on a personal level and create a sense of community and shared experience that brings people together in a positive and uplifting way.

CV: What more can fans look forward to seeing coming from you?

DM: Fans can expect to see a lot more music and content coming from me in the future, especially an 8 Bit remix of my recent album "RUBIX", which is highly inspired by old Pokemon music from Nintendo DS and other games that were part of my childhood. Additionally, I'd also like to mention that RUBIX CDs and Vinyls should be available for sale in the next 2 months or so (only 500 CDs and 500 Vinyls, very limited run), make sure to grab one before they are gone. Aside from that, I'm constantly exploring new sounds and styles and experimenting with different techniques and approaches to music-making. I'm also excited to collaborate with other artists and musicians to create new and interesting projects that push the boundaries of what is possible in instrumental music. Ultimately, I want to continue to grow and evolve as an artist and inspire others to do the same.

CV: Thanks again Daniel for taking some time and talking with us.  All the best!

My name is Mick Michaels...I'm an artist, music fan, songwriter, producer, show host, dreamer and guitarist for the traditional Heavy Metal band Corners of Sanctuary. Writing has always been a creative outlet for me; what I couldn't say in speech, I was able to do with the written word.  Writing has given me a voice and a way for me to create on a multitude of platforms including music and song, articles, independent screenplays, books and now, artist interviews. The Cosmick View is an opportunity to raise the bar and showcase artists in a positive and inspirational light. For me, it's another out-of-this-world adventure.
