The Cosmick View: Hello, and welcome to The Cosmick View/MBM Ten Pounder! Thanks for taking some time to chat with us!
CV:
Describe your definition of the band’s sound and style and how does that
definition uniquely describe the music?
Next Stop Olympus: Our band’s sound is a mix of Metalcore and Post Hardcore with a blend of rock ’n’ roll, big choruses and catchy riffs.

CV:
Today, everyone talks about artist and audience connection. Is such a level of
connection actually achievable for an artist and if so, how have you made the
connection to your fans?
Next Stop Olympus: We think the connection is definitely achievable, it’s just making the time for your fans and not taking them for granted…it helps for us by the fact that Conor is almost always stood with them during shows mostly because we can’t all fit on the stage most of the time. Bands like Bury Tomorrow are proof that bands can do it, they’ll go say hi to every single fan who wants to talk to them after every show without fail…no matter how big they get.

CV:
Is fan interaction an important part of the band’s inner culture?
Next Stop Olympus: Yes, at the end of the day no matter how cliché it sounds, bands aren’t anything without the fans…they people buying their merch and music, so interaction is a very important part of band culture.

CV:
Can a band truly interact with its fans and still maintain a level of personal
privacy without crossing the line and giving up their “personal space” in your
opinion?
Next Stop Olympus: We’re not really in that position yet so it’s difficult to say but that probably depends on person to person.

CV:
Is music, and its value, viewed differently around the world in your opinion?
If so, what do you see as the biggest difference in such multiple views among
various cultures?
Next Stop Olympus: We think music is a language everyone and every culture can get behind no matter where in the world you are.

CV:
Do you feel that a band that has an international appeal, will tend to connect
more so to American audiences? Would they be more enticed or intrigued to see
the band over indigenous acts because of the foreign flavor?
Next Stop Olympus: Yes bands can have a huge international appeal because that’s the reason bands get to tour the world the way they do but having an American audience always helps with a band’s success and that’s why a lot of people say ‘If you can make it in America then you make it everywhere’. Music is music; I don’t think it matters too much where anyone’s from.

CV:
Has modern-day digital technology made everyone an artist on some level in your
opinion? Have the actual lines of what really is an artist been blurred?
Next Stop Olympus: It’s given people more of an opportunity and platform to be creative and being an artist is all down to a person’s perspective…it’s all a personally preference.

CV:
How would you describe the difference between an artist who follows trends and
one who sets them?
Next Stop Olympus: The ones who set them will stand out but more often than not, it’s the bands that follow them who will get more credit.

CV:
Has music overall been splintered into too many sub-genres in an effort to
appease fan tastes in your opinion? And has such fan appeasements, in
actuality, weakened music’s impact as a whole by dividing audiences?
Next Stop Olympus: Yes there are too many sub-genres...for example, we just say we play rock ’n’ roll. But it hasn’t weakened music’s impact, it’s just made it easier for fans to find more bands like the ones they’re into.

CV:
What can fans except to see coming next from you?
Next Stop Olympus: We’ve just released our brand new EP, “Heart, Mind & Hell,” on 9th April, so we’ll be pushing that as much as possible and playing as many shows as we can to get it out there more.

Thanks again for taking some time and talking. It is greatly appreciated.
Next Stop Olympus: No, thank you, it’s always great when someone takes the time to interview a smaller band.

My name is Mick Michaels...I'm an artist, music fan, songwriter, producer, show host, dreamer and guitarist for the traditional Heavy Metal band Corners of Sanctuary. Writing has always been a creative outlet for me; what I couldn't say in speech, I was able to do with the written word. Writing has given me a voice and a way for me to create on a multitude of platforms including music and song, articles, independent screenplays, books and now, artist interviews. The Cosmick View is an opportunity to raise the bar and showcase artists in a positive and inspirational light. For me, it's another out-of-this-world adventure.
