Interview with the Band Twin Void
By Mick Michaels
The Cosmick View: Hello, and welcome to The Cosmick View/MBM Ten Pounder!
Twin Void: Thanks for taking some time to chat with us!
CV: Describe your definition of the band’s sound and style and how does that definition uniquely describe the music?
Twin Void: The best way to describe the band is if you combine country and punk rock together. We have huge heavy riffs but also very catchy parts.
CV: Today, everyone talks about artist and audience connection. Is such a level of connection actually achievable for an artist and if so, how have you made the connection to your fans?
Twin Void: We think using Instagram and Facebook nowadays is very important because we can reach our fans so easy and it’s great to connect with fans so you can grow your audience.
CV: Is fan interaction an important part of the band’s inner culture?
Twin Void: We love our fans and we love having that connection with them. It brings us back to being a kid and loving a band and when we finally got to talk to some of them, we would feel so special so we try to be the same way as a band.
CV: Can a band truly interact with its fans and still maintain a level of personal privacy without crossing the line and giving up their “personal space” in your opinion?
Twin Void: Absolutely, just gotta keep your boundaries and what we like to do is just keep it short and sweet.
CV: Is music, and its value, viewed differently around the world in your opinion? If so, what do you see as the biggest difference in such multiple views among various cultures?
Twin Void: Definitely! When you think about it everywhere is technically not like the last place, so everywhere is gonna influence different music and people and creativity.
CV: Do you feel that a band that has an international appeal, will tend to connect more so to American audiences? Would they be more enticed or intrigued to see the band over indigenous acts because of the foreign flavor?
Twin Void: we think so! Our record label is based in Italy so we have already got to get like a general vibe of how they think of us and we think we’ve had pretty good impact so far and no one hates it too bad yet, haha.
CV: Has modern-day digital technology made everyone an artist on some level in your opinion? Have the actual lines of what really is an artist been blurred?
Twin Void: The beauty of music is anyone can do it, and nowadays you can buy such an affordable home studio anyone can get something recorded and finished…we think it’s a beautiful thing.
CV: How
would you describe the difference between an artist who follows trends and one
who sets them?
Twin Void: We think the biggest difference is when you
see a band maybe on social media and it makes you think or you think twice
about it, because you know you found something unlike you’ve seen before and we
think that’s very important.
CV: Has music overall been splintered into too
many sub-genres in an effort to appease fan tastes in your opinion? And has
such fan appeasements, in actuality, weakened music’s impact as a whole by
dividing audiences?
Twin Void: It almost makes it even more huge of a scene
because it appeals to specific people instead one large group which may not
appeal to certain people.
CV: What can fans expect to see coming next from
you?
Twin Void: We got lots of rad tour plans and hopefully will
be hitting the studio later this year.
CV: Thanks again for taking some time and
talking. It is greatly appreciated.Thank you!
