Interview with Venice Revive
COSMICK VIEW: Hello! Welcome to The Cosmick View/MBM Ten Pounder. Thank you for taking some time out of your day to chat with me, it's greatly appreciated.
CV: What have you found to be the balancing point between relevance and over saturation when it comes to being an artist? Is there a fine line between the two or can it be looked at to some degree as the two essentially being one in the same?
CV: For you, what’s first when it comes to songwriting…is it a matter of lyrics melody, chords, beat, attitude? Or is it more organic than that where the moment dictates the process and outcome?
CV: Every artist experiences highs and lows. Many struggle just to move from one level to the next, and some, unfortunately, never do. What would you consider to be a pivotal point in an artist's career which would take them from one level to the next that a struggling artist should be aware of? Is it an individual mindset or does it equate more to opportunity? Or is it something altogether different in your opinion?
Venice Revive: I still didn't find that point myself I'm afraid, just trying to promote my music as much as possible, and honestly, don't know what to even wait for, how does exploding in popularity feel like? I know my music can do it, I'll just keep pushing until I find out – and promise you'll be the first to know!
CV: What do you feel an artist can do right now to stay relevant, especially in an environment, such as the present, where performing in front of a live audience is not an option?
Venice Revive: As much as it sucks to say it, Tik Tok. Social media is everything right now, I know some bands that were considered local here that exploded because of these videos. Really happy for them and really hope they'll keep growing.
Venice Revive: As a solo artist who HATES Tik Tok, everything feels like over-saturation when it comes to staying relevant, seeing all the other bands make those trendy videos in hopes they'd get streams and new audience from that…
The thing is, unfortunately, it works. People don't really care about how we feel about them, they want to see entertaining videos, and it helps them personally connect with us band members.
CV: Is there any level of consideration, or even concern, to deliver on expectations, whether it being your own or that of the fans, when working on new material?
Venice Revive: Not a lot of people know my music just yet, so I don't really have people "expecting" things, but I'll always try to create the best I can create, in hopes it'd reach as many people as possible, so I'll have a lot of new fans.
When I'll have a much large audience, safe to assume they'll expect new material to sound like Venice Revive and not something completely different, then of course I'll try to deliver what the fans will want to hear!
Venice Revive: Both, depending on the situation. Sometimes cool riffs come to mind, from which I build a song, sometimes something painful happens and the whole song lyrics just come out naturally at night, while typing them on my phone.
Either way, I'll try to create a full piece that'll convey the emotions I want my audience to feel through every song.
CV: What do you believe makes songwriting more honest and impactful...that something that both the artist and listener can share?
Venice Revive: Feelings. When I listen to music, I always read the lyrics & try to understand what the instrumentalists were trying to convey with the notes they've chosen, I try to do the same with my music. I hope it helps people deal with whatever they're dealing with, that's how you truly connect with music.
CV: What do you feel has been the greatest contribution to your success as an artist?
Venice Revive: I reached the top of the national rock chart with only my second single.
CV: What's next for you? What can fans expect to see coming up?
Venice Revive: I'm working on some covers to songs that mean a lot to me, alongside my second full length album, let's see what comes out first!
CV: Thank you again for spending some time talking and sharing with our readers. I wish you all the best and continued success.

My name is Mick Michaels...I'm an artist, music fan, songwriter, producer, author, show host, big dreamer and guitarist for the traditional Heavy Metal band Corners of Sanctuary. Writing has always been a creative outlet for me; what I couldn't say in speech, I was able to do with the written word. Writing has given me a voice and a way for me to create on a multitude of platforms including music and song, articles, independent screenplays, books and now, artist interviews. The Cosmick View is an opportunity to raise the bar and showcase artists in a positive and inspirational light. For me, it's another out-of-this-world adventure.
