Interview with Country Artist Joe Vandresar
By Mick Michaels
Cosmick View: Hello, Joe, and welcome to The Cosmick View! Thanks for taking some time out of your day to speak with us. It’s greatly appreciated.
CV: What was that moment like when you realized music was your path? How did you know?
Joe Vandresar: I realized music was my path when I first learned to play the guitar and fell in love with song writing.
CV: As an artist, what does an exclusive musical identity look like to you, and what do you feel distinguishes yours from that of your peers?
JV: My musical identity to me is my style of music I feel is different from what plays on radio today. I also feel if people listen to it they will hear that for themselves. Different sound, different style and different feel for sure.
CV: As a songwriter, do you feel songs need to have a message or even tell a story to really be able to connect to an audience? If so, what advantage does that provide for the artist?
JV: I 100% believe that wholeheartedly. Music itself should be felt whether that's happy, sad, upset, any sort of feeling in general. The audience could have gone through something or been through something and I could sing a song that they connect with.
CV: In addition to working on your next album, your new EP, “Whiskey and Promises,” was released in December. Tell us a little about? Is the new EP a preview of what the next album will be like?
JV: The EP is just about my life in general, things I've felt and gone through and all of my future music will be the same things based off of my life and things I feel people have gone through and can relate to.
JV: The EP is just about my life in general, things I've felt and gone through and all of my future music will be the same things based off of my life and things I feel people have gone through and can relate to.
CV: Many critics believe music has fallen out of public favor…it’s connection with the audience is lost. Is that really the case on some level, or has music found itself simply competing for attention in a sea of over stimuli?
JV: I don't believe that at all to be honest whether it's country music or rock or whatever music you listen too. If the music itself can make you feel a certain way as long as there's that i dont believe the connection can be lost.
CV: In your opinion, is fan loyalty being taken advantage of with the new trend of artists and bands using backing tracking during live performances?
JV: I wouldn't say it's being taken advantage of. I would say there's different ways to perform as long as the music is connecting with the fans and they are enjoying what they are hearing, that's all that really matters.
CV: As a musician and songwriter, is AI something the music industry should be fearful of, or should it be embraced as another tool to help creativity prosper?
JV: I think AI is one of the coolest things today but as far as authenticity I don't fully agree with using it to write your own songs. Maybe helping with ideas if you're stuck on something but i think being authentic and real is the best way to be.
CV: What has music meant to you? How has it changed your life, and what do you believe music has given you that nothing else would have?
JV: Music has been a huge part of my life since I was young. It has given me humbleness because seeing how much talent is actually out there and all the artists working so hard, trying to go for the same dream never to think I should just be handed it. I will always put in the work.
CV: What more can fans expect to see coming from you in 2026 and beyond? JV: More of the same real authentic feeling music that I've been putting out. I have songs coming out about me and my life and then I have songs that I write that they could relate to.
CV: Thanks again, Joe, for taking the time to share with our readers. We wish you all the best and continued success.
JV: Thank you for having me and allowing me to answer your questions!

My name is Mick Michaels...I'm an artist, music fan, songwriter, producer, author, show host, big dreamer and guitarist for the traditional Heavy Metal band Corners of Sanctuary. Writing has always been a creative outlet for me; what I couldn't say in speech, I was able to do with the written word. Writing has given me a voice and a way for me to create on a multitude of platforms including music and song, articles, independent screenplays, books and now, artist interviews. The Cosmick View is an opportunity to raise the bar and showcase artists in a positive and inspirational light. For me, it's another out-of-this-world adventure.
