Interview with A Tear Beyond
By Mick Michaels
Cosmick View: Hello, and welcome to The Cosmick View. Thanks for taking some time out of your day to speak with us. It's greatly appreciated.
A Tear Beyond: Thank you so much to The Cosmick View for giving us this opportunity!
CV: Do you think modern Heavy Metal music has evolved past its origins? Or are things relatively still the same?
ATB: Heavy Metal is certainly constantly evolving and over the years has tried to reinvent itself in many ways. It's no coincidence that it's one of the musical genres with the most subgenres and influences. Beyond the more traditional genres, we also love discovering what's new in the scene. And sometimes, certain realities are truly surprising.
CV: Does Metal still draw people to want to listen and engage the music while challenging the audience to imagine becoming a musician themselves?
ATB: The involvement given by Metal Music with its many facets is certainly one of the most intense. Even today, fortunately, many young people, driven by the desire to make their voices heard, their ideas heard, or simply to emulate their idols, decide to try their hand at an instrument. And we hope that A Tear Beyond, in their own small way, will be a source of inspiration for young musicians.
CV: Many believe that success for a band relies on three major components; good distribution, good PR and good booking. In the new modern music industry, all of that is without a doubt achievable by the artist themselves. Do you feel more and more established acts will go the independent route and eliminate the middle man component?
ATB: Modern means certainly increasingly allow for "getting by" on multiple fronts. It's also true that achieving results requires a lot of time and energy, and the results achieved don't always match expectations.
ATB: Bad experiences undoubtedly lead to less and less trust in third parties. Financial factors also play a key role in these decisions. Saving money by managing to make do on multiple fronts is definitely a must for every band.
CV: Do you feel there is a need or want for artists of any style or genre to rise above the past and to do more musically…artistically? Or can a level of comfort be reached and maintained as a means to sustainability?
ATB: The past of a musical genre is always precious and worthy of respect, because it contains the foundation from which to write new pages in the history of Music. Especially in Metal Music. It's a constant exchange between past and present. Let's say that the pursuit of innovation is very important for the survival of genres, but it cannot ignore what has been done in the past.
CV: Many critics believe music is irrelevant today... just background noise. As a musician who is out there writing, releasing, and performing, from your perspective, do you still see music relevance in the world today? Is there a connection?
ATB: As musicians, we can only hope these critics are wrong. As long as we feel emotions, Music can never be mere background noise, as its notes will always touch certain heartstrings.
CV: Has music in general split into too many genres and sub-genre classifications in an effort just to please an indecisive audience in your opinion? Is it just more of a marketing ploy to funnel buyers to a specific brand?
ATB: Marketing can certainly influence certain stylistic choices made by producers and musicians, but we like to think that even today, most of the diversity in musical styles is the result of artists' different ways of perceiving, feeling, and experiencing emotions.
CV: What more can fans expect to see coming from A Tear Beyond in 2026?
ATB: We're currently focused on live performances and promoting "Afterthought." However, we can tell you that we're already working on new material. We don't know if it will be released this year, but we definitely recommend following us to stay updated!
CV: Thanks again for taking the time to share with our readers. We wish you all the best and continued success.
ATB: Thank you so much for this interesting interview, and best wishes to everyone who took the time to hear A Tear Beyond's perspective.

My name is Mick Michaels...I'm an artist, music fan, songwriter, producer, author, show host, big dreamer and guitarist for the traditional Heavy Metal band Corners of Sanctuary. Writing has always been a creative outlet for me; what I couldn't say in speech, I was able to do with the written word. Writing has given me a voice and a way for me to create on a multitude of platforms including music and song, articles, independent screenplays, books and now, artist interviews. The Cosmick View is an opportunity to raise the bar and showcase artists in a positive and inspirational light. For me, it's another out-of-this-world adventure.
