Interview with Leave the Wave
by Mick Michaels
Cosmick View: Hello, and welcome to The Cosmick View! Thanks for taking some time out of your day to speak with us. Its greatly appreciated.
Leave the Wave: Hello, and thank you for having us.
Leave the Wave: Hello, and thank you for having us.
CV: Over the past several years, the music industry has essentially changed multiple times. How have you navigated these changes and what positives have you taken away that keeps you moving forward?
Leave the Wave: The biggest challenge today is getting noticed. There is so much music being released that it can be difficult for independent bands to stand out. What keeps us moving forward is our love for music and seeing other bands out there working hard and keeping rock alive. That passion, both from musicians and fans, motivates us to keep creating, performing, and pushing forward.
CV: Artists everywhere seem to be struggling to find not only an audience but a stage to perform on. Do you feel this is more of a temporary trend or more of a signal that music has lost its impact?
Leave the Wave: I think it depends a lot on the genre of music. For rock music, especially in Cyprus, it can be very difficult to find opportunities to perform and build an audience. There are still plenty of people who love rock music, but there are fewer venues willing to support it.
In many cases, venue owners have to think like businesspeople first, which can make it harder for rock and alternative bands to get stage time. That said, I don't think music has lost its impact. People still connect deeply with music and live shows.
CV: Genre classification has essentially altered listener perspective and has redefined music categories. Has these perceptions changed the way you write music? Is songwriting more of a “fitting into a niche” than writing from the heart nowadays?
Leave the Wave: We don't write music because we want to get rich or fit into a specific niche. We write music because we love playing and expressing ourselves through it. Trends and genre classifications don't really affect our songwriting process. We prefer to write from the heart and let the music develop naturally. If people connect with it, that's great, but our main goal is to create something honest and real.
CV: Tell us a little about what you have going on right now.
Leave the Wave: Right now, we're getting ready for our appearance at Vagos Metal Fest in Portugal, which we're really excited about. At the same time, we're working on new music and developing material for our next release. It's a busy period for the band, and we're looking forward to sharing both the new songs and our live energy with more people.
CV: How do you stay inspired as an artist?
Leave the Wave: We stay inspired through everyday life and our inner world. Our experiences, emotions, thoughts, and the things happening around us all influence our music.
CV: Is there ever the fear of possibly repeating yourself musically over time?
Leave the Wave: To be honest, we've only released one album so far and we're currently working on our second one, so it's probably too early for us to answer that. But I think every artist has that thought in the back of their mind. Nobody wants to repeat themselves. At the same time, we're not trying to force change just for the sake of being different. We focus on writing honest music and letting it evolve naturally.
CV: Many critics believe music has lost it touch...it’s connection with the audience. Is that really the case on some level, or has music found itself competing for attention in a sea of over stimuli?
Leave the Wave: I don't think music has lost its connection with people. Music is still one of the strongest ways for people to express emotions and connect with each other. The difference today is that music has to compete with so many other forms of entertainment and social media for people's attention.
CV: What do you believe music has given you that nothing else would have?
Leave the Wave: Music has given us motivation to keep going through the hard days. It's always been a way to express ourselves, clear our minds, and turn emotions into something positive. No matter what challenges life brings, music is always there, and that's something nothing else can really replace.
CV: What more can fans expect coming from you this year and beyond?
Leave the Wave: Fans can expect more live shows and a lot of new music from us. We're currently working on our second album, which is shaping up to be heavier than Disturbance. We're also preparing to play outside Cyprus and reach new audiences. We're excited about what's coming next and can't wait to share it with everyone
CV: Thanks again for taking the time to share with our readers. We wish you all the best and continued success.
Leave the Wave: Thank you for having us. We really appreciate the opportunity to share our story and music with your readers. We hope to see some of them at our shows in the future. Until then, keep supporting independent music and keep rock alive.

My name is Mick Michaels...I'm an artist, music fan, songwriter, producer, author, show host, big dreamer & guitarist for the traditional Heavy Metal band Corners of Sanctuary. Writing has always been a creative outlet for me; what I couldn't say in speech, I was able to do with the written word. Writing has given me a voice & a way for me to create on a multitude of platforms including music and song, articles, independent screenplays, books & now, artist interviews. The Cosmick View is an opportunity to raise the bar & showcase artists in a positive and inspirational light. For me, it's another out-of-this-world adventure.
